Reservoir West Primary School has been granted a restricted enrolment process by the Regional Director. This is due to a significant increase in Foundation enrolments in recent years and the size limitations of the school site. However, do not let this put you off either visiting the school for a tour. For the past few years, we have been able to accept almost all Foundation enrolments.

Our school zone is available on findmyschool.vic.gov.au. Findmyschool.vic.gov.au hosts the most up-to-date information about Victorian school zones. Students residing in this zone are guaranteed a place at our school, which is determined on the basis of your permanent residential address.

The Department provides guidance through the School Placement Policy to ensure that students have access to their designated neighbourhood school and the freedom to choose other schools, subject to facility limitations.

You can find more information and answers to frequently asked questions on the Department’s website under School zones.

Where there are insufficient places at Reservoir West Primary School for all students who seek entry, students are enrolled in the following priority order:

  1. Students for whom the school is the designated neighbourhood school
  2. Students with a sibling at the same permanent address who are attending the school at the same time
  3. Where the Regional Director has restricted the enrolment, students who reside nearest the school
  4. Students seeking enrolment on specific curriculum grounds or attend the Reservoir West Early Education Centre (Montessori Pre-School)
  5. All other students in order of closeness of their home to the school
  6. In exceptional circumstances, compassionate grounds.

The designated neighbourhood school is the school that is nearest the student’s permanent residence. Distance is calculated from the front gate of the residence to the front gate of the school in Carrington Road.

A ceiling has been placed on new enrolments as directed by the Northern Metropolitan Region to manage the school's population and as such, if your situation does not meet the above automatic entitlement (1, 2 or 3 above) you will be placed on a waiting list and ranked by your home's distance from the school (as the crow flies). Please note that proof of residential address may be requested e.g. Council Rates Invoice.

Enrolment forms can be collected from the School Office, downloaded: hard copy version or editable pdf, or will be posted to you upon request. Please note that enrolment forms will not be accepted without a copy of your child’s birth certificate and the school entry immunisation certificate.

It is requested that all enrolment forms be returned to school by the end of Term 2. Families will be sent an offer of placement or non-placement posted early in September. Those students on our waiting list will be sent offers from that time onwards if places become available.

Enrolled Foundation Students are expected to participate in our formal Prep Orientation Program which takes place during Term 4. Informal transition activities will be conducted during earlier terms.
