Foundation Transition


For your child to be eligible to be enrolled in a Foundation class for 2018 at a Government School, he/she must turn 5 years of age on or before 30th April, 2018.

If you are intending to enrol your child for Foundation in 2018, please ensure that you read the RESTRICTED ENROLMENT process that is now in place at RWPS.

If your child has special needs, please speak to the Principal upon presenting your enrolment form.

An Information Evening on School Readiness will be conducted by our Foundation teachers, Ms Sophie Hawkes, Ms Jen Livaditis, Ms Alex van Nugteren and Ms Kelly Vanderwert, and is open to any interested families, whether they have already enrolled at a school or not. The session commences at 6.30 p.m. with the Foundation teachers and the Principal available beforehand for an informal chat from 6.00 p.m.

DINOSAURS Wednesday 30th August 2017

Two Group Activity Sessions will be conducted by our Foundation teachers for children commencing their Foundation year in 2018. This is open to any children (and parents/guardians) who may be interested; not only those enrolled at Reservoir West Primary School. During these sessions the children will be exposed to some structured and unstructured learning and play activities. These sessions will be conducted from 9.45 until 10.45 a.m. on the above days.

TEDDY BEARS' PICNIC Wednesday 18th October 2017

A Teddy Bears' Picnic for enrolled Foundation students will commence in the Gym at 9.30 a.m. and will conclude at 10.45 a.m. The children will participate in fun activities with their Teddy Bears. Children are to bring along a snack and drink for the Picnic. Parents are asked to not stay in the Gym during this time as it may be too crowded and distracting for the students.

The Classroom Experience Session commences at 11.45 a.m. and concludes at 1.30 p.m. The 2016 Foundation students will spend the session in the classrooms participating in Literacy and Numeracy activities. Children are asked to bring along lunch. Parents are asked not to stay with their children.


An Information Evening will be held for parents/guardians of 2018 Foundation students. The evening will commence at 6.30 p.m. Parents/guardians will be given comprehensive details of school operations and curriculum. The 2018 Foundation Handbook will also be distributed and discussed. It is recommended that young children do not attend the Information Evening.



In 2017 the Foundation students commence their schooling on Thursday 1st February at 9.30 a.m. and will be dismissed at 1.00 p.m. on that day. On Thursday 2nd February Foundation students commence at 9.30 a.m. and will be dismissed at 1.00 p.m. Foundation students do not attend school on Wednesdays during February and also Wednesday 1st March. For the first two weeks of school (February 5th - 16th), Foundation students are dismissed at 2.45 p.m.
