For your child to be eligible to be enrolled in a Prep class for 2010 at a Government School in , he/she must turn 5 years of age on or before 30th April, 2010.
If you are intending to enrol your child for Prep in 2010, please do so by the end of Term Three, 18th September. The earlier the enrolment, the easier it is for the school to plan the Transition Program and organise classes and teachers for next year.
During 2009, the school has changed the Transition Program for the Preps due to commence in 2010. All activities will be advertised at our local Pre-Schools. The program now takes the following form:
Wednesday 6th May
Information Evening on School Readiness conducted by our Prep teachers, Mrs Flavia Vangelista and Miss Barbara Trinchi. and is open to any interested families, whether they have already enrolled at a school or not. The session commences at 6.30 p.m.
Commencing
Thursday 23rd July
Pre-school group session conducted by our Prep teachers for children commencing Prep next year. This is open to any children (and parents) who may be interested in attending, not only those enrolled at Reservoir West. During these sessions the students will be exposed to Literacy and Numeracy activities, Music, Art/Craft and Physical Education sessions, working in the Computer Lab and working on social skills. The program will be conducted on every second Thursday, from 2.30 until 3.15 p.m., commencing on the above date for five sessions.
Wednesday 14th October
Information Night for parents of 2010 Preps already enrolled, commencing at 6.00 p.m. Parents will be given comprehensive details of the school operations and also provided with an overview of how the curriculum is structured and how best that parents can contribute to their children's learning journey. All Prep Classroom and Specialist teachers will be in attendance and will give an outline of what your child can expect to be doing and learning in 2010.
Wednesday 28th October
Teddy Bears' Picnic for enrolled Preps and Parents commencing at 1.30 and concluding at 3.30 p.m. The new Preps will meet this year's Prep group for some fun activities with their Teddy Bears.
Wednesday 4th November
The Classroom Experience Session commences at 11.30 a.m. and concludes at 1.00 p.m. 2010 Preps spend an hour in the classroom, then meet and eat lunch with their new 'Buddies' who are Year 4 students specially selected to act as a 'big brother or sister' during their early time at school. While the new Preps are having fun, the Parents are held captive for another Information Session which includes a presentation by the School Nurse and information on Uniform, Excursions, and a question and answer time.
