INTER-SCHOOL SPORT

Reservoir West Primary School has a very proud sporting tradition. The school is very fortunate to have had dedicated teachers (and parents) who have given up their own time after school to train sporting teams for inter-school competition. Emphasis is placed upon learning the skills and rules of the sports, improving fitness, being a productive team-member, good sportspersonship, having fun and learning how to be a humble winner and a gracious loser. Most of all the school endeavours to provide the students with positive experiences on the sporting field which will hopefully encourage them to continue to be active participants in future.

The school offers the following sports in inter-school competition as a member of the Preston District Primary Schools Sports Association:

SUMMER SPORT – TERM ONE

Cricket – Mixed

Rounders – Boys and Girls

Bat Tennis – Boys and Girls

Tee Ball – Girls

WINTER SPORT – TERM TWO

Football – Mixed

Soccer – Mixed

Netball – Girls and Mixed

Softball – Girls

ROUND ROBINS

Kanga Cricket – Mixed

Year 5/6 Basketball – Boys and Girls

Year 3/4 Basketball – Boys and Girls

CARNIVALS

Swimming

Athletics

Cross Country

Skills of the above sports are included in our PE lessons at school in order to prepare the students to become involved in the school’s sporting teams.

For the younger years, the school has a partnership with a commercial provider, Kelly Sports. Sessions are conducted after school on Wednesdays. Qualified instructors provide our younger students with experience in the skills and rules of major and minor sports. Please contact the school for more information.

All matches in 2009 are to be played 'away' due to building works at RW. Students involved in Inter-School Sport are to bring $4.00 each week for the bus. All sports are to be played at the opposing school apart from those noted in the Venues column.

Bat Tennis Boys were defeated in the Grand Final by Preston West Primary School.

Bat Tennis Girls defeated Preston West in the Grand Final.
